Diablo II: Resurrected will still have multiplayer. Together with Diablo 2 Resurrected Items bringing back 8-player matches, Resurrected's online infrastructure has been updated to protect players from cheaters and those seeking to hack, and it will also allow for cross-progression. Similar to Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, you can even bring over your rescue files from different versions of this game. However, it's been confirmed that the remaster is not going to have cross-play amongst the different platforms.
Who's Behind This Remaster? The latter previously worked on the Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy remaster and 2020's Tony Hawk: Pro Skater 1+2, the studio has quite the pedigree when it comes to updating classic games. Along with handling the remaster, Vicarious Visions is also behind the procedure for bringing Diablo II to consoles, which marks the match's first look from PC.
"When we approached how to perform a console port, a common obstacle was that you don't possess a mouse, so how do you approach character movements and utilize different skills and targeting? So, Vicarious Visions has a great deal of experience with consoles, which helped us a lot with addressing a lot of the technical aspects. We kind of combined our expertise and ways of sharing with what we've done on Diablo III in addition to the understanding Vicarious Visions knows. That was always a fantastic connection with how we came together and building Diablo II: Resurrection on consoles"
Will This Remaster Replace The Original Game? During our interview with the remaster developers, we talked about different classes learned in the making of the WarCraft III: Reforged, which was released to a mixed response from fans. Much of fan disappointment for WarCraft III: Reforged came from Blizzard with the remaster to replace the first game on Battle.net, which makes it the only way to play with the previous strategy game in the WarCraft series. In our talk with Blizzard, the studio stated that they intend to maintain the initial version of Diablo II on Battle.net, which is playable together with the remaster. While Resurrected will keep the classic sport and visuals in its own legacy mode, players that are still used to the first can elect to play that instead.
Diablo 2 Resurrected has only been declared at BlizzCon 2021, together with Blizzard now revealing the PC needs for its incoming remaster -- and confirming that Buy Diablo 2 Items mods will be supported, to boot.
