Lost Ark: A guide for beginners for Engraving

  • We'll look at the engravings in Lost Ark, covering how they work, how to get them, and how to use them.

Engravings are a fundamental part of improving your character in Lost Ark . Each class has two engravings that drastically change how a course plays. Still, there are also a variety of engravings that provide various buffs and changes to your build.

This guide will provide a detailed look at the most popular engravings in the game and how you use them. They are only available after level 50, so they are strictly for endgame content like Chaos Dungeons and Raids.

We've updated this engraving guide to include more information about early game engraving builds. Focus on your class engraving or even the suggested combat engraving. You shouldn't focus on Titan Slayer and Golem because the flaws are too significant, and you shouldn't worry too much about minimizing your engravings right away.

What are engravings, and just how to work with them?

Engravings are additional buffs and customizations you can do to your character when you first start doing T1 content - this is the content at the end of the main storyline, after level 50.

Engravings can be divided into three separate categories: damage boosts, valuable buffs, and class-specific engravings that completely change the way you play. Traditional engravings can be used by any class in the game, while class-specific engravings are class-specific.

How to increase the level of engravings?

Engravings have three levels available, depending on how many points you have unlocked—15 points on the three individual levels.

There are several ways to unlock points for your engravings: add-ons (earrings, necklaces, rings) and capacity stones. Add-ons and stones may be collected, looted, and purchased from Misplaced Ark.

Finally, you can also unlock learned character-specific engravings, named differently depending on where you play, but these " learned engravings " or "imprints" are opened through books. They can be found in the world of Arcesia almost everywhere, in dungeons, raids, and islands. You need multiple books to unlock learned engraving slots, so it's not just one or two.

How do the engravings look during the first steps in the endgame?

This is where things get pretty interesting. Setting up your engravings at the beginning of the endgame content is a little intimidating - you should focus on that once you hit I-level 1370 and can start the first Abyss raid (ARGOS). You won't have accessories with many engraving points, and you might not have learned engraving slots or even an ability stone ready to give you engraving points.

Let us appear at a sample set of add-ons, stones, and discovered engravings that may be obtainable for you.

Here is engraving sample 1370 - it's called 333111—three-level engravings and three level 1 engraving, including the negative.

    It's broken down like this:

    • Ability Gem with 6 x New Dawn and 5 x Celerity (this is not an optimal gem for a paladin).
    • Ring with: 3 x Titanslayer and 3 x New Dawn
    • Call with: 3 x Titanslayer and 3 x Champion's Zeal
    • Earring with: 3 x Titan Slayer and 2 x Best Defense
    • Earring with: 3 New Dawn and 3 Better Defense
    • Necklace with: 3 x New Dawn and 3 x Champion's Zeal
    • Books: 9 x Best Defense and 9 x Titanslayer

You won't have access to that many points until around level 1370, and your accessories and gems will cost you a decent amount of Lost Ark gold.

Instead, it's an excellent idea to only focus on engraving your class to get started or on combat engraving that's good for your course (Master Trainer for a Paladin, Ecstasy for a Bard, etc.). You can then apply Engraving twice in your Engraving Slots for 6 points per Uncommon Tier Book.

Ability gems will come later as you need to find the right gym. However, you can pick up and use almost any stone that gets in your way initially. It's only substantially later inside the game that you commence worrying about class-specific engravings and builds.
