NBA 2K22 issue having been around for a few weeks

  • When it comes to gaming consoles, there are a variety of issues that can arise, and the most recent one affecting Xbox consoles crashing while playing NBA 2K22, Madden 22, or FIFA 22 is definitely one of the stranger ones.

This latest console bug is unusual in that it appears to be affecting only sports games, and not all of them are from the same company, with the NBA issue having been around for a few weeks. This has been going on for a while now and appears to be causing issues for some gamers who are attempting to play these games, but Xbox appears to be working diligently to resolve the issue.

While it has been a problem on Xbox for a few weeks, more and more reports of console crashes have been appearing in recent weeks, with people specifically reporting issues when trying to play NBA 2K22 on Xbox Series X or S, as we previously reported ourselves a couple of weeks ago. Some people have reported that when they try to load up NBA 2K22 on their Xbox Series X/S, the system crashes, followed by a message saying that the console is designed to shut down automatically due to poor ventilation. However, it appears that there are no actual ventilation issues for players with their consoles, but rather that there is some sort of glitch that is causing it to occur.

Not only that, but other people have recently reported that they were receiving the same message when trying to play Madden 22 and FIFA 22 as well, with the latter of which is only available in the EA Play 10 hour free trial at this time. This is made even more interesting by the fact that a game from 2K Sports and two from EA Sports have now been linked to this error, all of which are sports games as well.

    WHAT WAS XBOX'S COMMENT?
Xbox Support is unquestionably one of the best in the business when it comes to responding to issues relating to their consoles, and this is yet another example of that. They responded to the initial reports of Xbox consoles crashing while playing NBA 2K22 by posting the following on their Xbox Support Twitter account, followed up with a follow-up post just a few hours later.

The Xbox Status page continues to list an issue with NBA 2K22 changes, but it states that a fix is on its way. This is despite the fact that it has been several days since the original post. Dexerto reports that they had a follow-up tweet that mentioned that they were investigating issues with Madden 22 and FIFA 22 as well as the issues mentioned above, but that tweet has since been deleted entirely for unknown reasons.

At this time, Microsoft does not have an official temporary fix available. Instead, they simply state that they will provide more information as it becomes available. This is evidently due to a problem with the map that is causing the game to crash, and canceling out before the map appears can help to avoid this. Opening the map after the fact, on the other hand, may still result in a crash, so avoid doing so for the time being.

Obviously, this is only a temporary solution, and we hope that a more permanent solution for the Xbox console crashing while playing NBA 2K22, Madden 22, and FIFA 22 will be released soon. Fans have been waiting for several weeks now since the issue first appeared, and this is something that needs to be addressed as soon as possible rather than later, especially if the issue is affecting multiple games at the same time.
